In this landmark series, Professor Stephen Hawking examines today’s cutting edge science and reveals how it is shaping what the world will be like in years to come.

Stephen Hawking has spent over 40 years analysing, understanding and describing the world. Now, this thrilling series challenges him to predict where science is going. By exploring the cutting edge of today’s technology, he draws conclusions about how different life will be in the future.

Hawking sets the agenda, with a team of five dynamic young scientists who travel the world to investigate the newest and most exciting scientific innovations. They experience amazing new concepts, testing their veracity, and feeling the speed of progress driven by the brightest thinkers on the planet.

Episode One: Inspired By Nature
Stephen Hawking and his team investigate where copying and ultimately improving on nature is heading. Bio-mimicry is a rapidly expanding new field and it is already having a huge impact. In this episode, the Boston Dynamics’ incredible animal inspired robots are road tested, gecko feet are assessed which is leading to a new concept in adhesion technology, deep water is being used to train astronauts and wireless power is finally being realised by harnessing one of nature’s greatest phenomena; magnetism.
