Ad revenue lifts on STV

A record ad revenue for the last six months, sees STV up 15.4%.

2014-03-04_1102ASTRA has announced Subscription Television advertising revenues achieved a record revenue of $262,910,580 for the period July to December 2013, a lift of 15.4%.

This was up $35 million compared to the same period in 2012:

Jul – Dec 2012: $227,711,984
Jan – Jun 2013: $237,648,703
Jul – Dec 2013: $262,910,580

“We are very pleased with this strong result which again shows subscription television to be one of the top performers in the overall advertising market,” Australian Subscription Television and Radio Association CEO, Andrew Maiden.

“The revenue result also delivered another significant milestone for the subscription television industry earning advertising revenues of over half a billion dollars in a calendar year for the first time,” he said.

The data was audited by Ernst & Young.

  1. People are chumps. I could understand buying equipment to access television but not buying constant access to television. Unless you own a copy. I especially don’t understand why you’d want to pay to see commercials. Except TV ads. Eh.

  2. It really annoys me to have to sit through 5 mins of ads when I already pay a subscription fee. I wouldn’t mind ads before or after shows but not during.
