tjqQ & A will head to China later this year for a special broadcast from Shanghai.

It marks the third international broadcast for the ABC show following previous editions in Indonesia and India.

Travel editions of the show are always heavily-attended, as host Tony Jones told TV Tonight of this week’s episode from Melbourne.

“When you have 1000 people in the audience it makes a huge difference but whenever we leave Sydney we automatically get a big audience because people want us to travel more,” he said.

“Had we the money we would travel as much as we possibly could. We basically stretch our budget to come to Melbourne or Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide or regional parts of the country whenever we can. When we do it the audiences respond in a huge way.

“So it’s exciting for us because there is a real freshness about finding a thousand people, all of whom want to ask questions.”
