34 year old Ararat Sales Manager Craig Booby has won The Biggest Loser for 2014 having lost a whopping 79.8 kilograms.
Booby finished with a final weight of 103.6 kilograms, down 43.5% from his starting weight of 183.4 kilograms.
He defeated finalists Toni and Katrina, and runner-up Sharon who lost 36.61% of her body weight.
“It’s a very surreal feeling,” he said.
“When I first auditioned for The Biggest Loser: Challenge Australia I didn’t think about making the finale. I just knew I had one chance to make the most of this opportunity and win or lose I was going to give 100% to be able to hold my head high and have no regrets. Winning is an amazing reward for the hard work I have put in and I have also proved my doubters wrong.
“The Biggest Loser has taught me that if you want something badly enough and are willing to put in the work, push through the pain and get your priorities right, dreams really can become reality.”
Coach Commando Steve, said: “He was the very definition of hard work and from the moment he entered The Biggest Loser house, he gave it his all. I constantly encouraged him to strive for more and dig deeper to be the best possible version of himself – and he delivered.”
Booby wins $75,000 cash, much less than previous years, but the regional focus saw the show raise $145,000 for Ararat, which collectively lost 40,000 kilograms.
However this season has struggled in the ratings with TEN CEO Hamish McLennan branding it an “ageing” format, signalling it will not be due for renewal after 9 seasons.

Congratulations to Craig. A very deserving winner.
I really enjoyed this season of The Biggest Loser and I hope Channel 10 bring it back in 2015. And I also hope it goes back to singles and that they pick people from different states. I also hope they change the timeslot (eg. 7pm) and put it on more that 3 nights a week too.
Fantastic season and a very deserving winner. I think this show has not been given the credit it deserves for being well spirited reality TV. I’m very sad to see it go.
Congrats Craig! He did so well and when the alliance started that just pushed him more. Well deserved
Ditto all the other contestants over the years.
Congratulations Craig, all your hard work paid off.
Congrats also to the other contestants they look fantastic!
It would’ve been good if at the end of the show if there was an update to see if everyone kept it off considering how long ago it was recorded.
Given that the program was recorded so long ago, I would be interested to know if the contestant has maintained his weight loss.
