The Block‘s Scott Cam has won the Gold Logie for 2014.
“This is really unbelievable,” he said.
The carpenter turned television presenter thanked former producers who assisted him early in his career, cameramen, network, his co-host, Block judges and family.
“I’m not here without a great show like The Block.
“I’m so lucky that they asked me to look after their show.
“I need to thank the whole Block family.
“Everybody works as a family and we all work together really well.
He also thanked co-host Shelley Craft.
“I really love being part of the Channel Nine family,” he said.
“They’ve been extremely loyal to me.
“I guarantee you this will not be a door stop at my place.”

The 56th Logie Awards opened with a Jason Derulo medley but with a few sound problems during “Trumpets.” At least we know he is singing live.
First presenters were Hamish and Andy, arriving on a forklift driven by Scott Cam ready to give out “one award an hour,” and checking a script for the night. The boys were getting the laughs for gags about Karl Stefanovic and David Koch doing a ‘Britney / Madonna’ kiss and Jason ‘My Kitchen’ Derulos. Sans host it was a good opening by the boys.

Ed Sheeran put in a good performance, bringing a bit of legit to the night.
Hughesy is getting the laughs at the expense of The Block, Bondi Rescue, Big Brother, My Kitchen Rules, The Biggest Loser. He could almost host the show (but would three hours of Hughesy be a big ask?). Hughesy joked about driving his complaining kids to McDonald’s drive-thru.
“You want activated almonds do you?” he asked.

Peter Harvey is posthumously inducted into the Hall of Fame (as tipped in this site’s Logie survey), introduced by Tara Brown. Fittingly he receives a standing ovation, with Claire and Adam Harvey thanking the Logies and remembering their father.
“We miss him every day and we still hear his voice introducing Nine News in Sydney every night. It’s comforting. He’s only ever as far away as the television. And we know Dad would just love the idea of all of us here tonight, raising a glass to him. Thank you so much,” they said.

these awards are an absolute joke, but a fair refection on the abysmal state of australian commercial television.
I’m pretty sure they used to have Best Lead Actor/Actress and Best Supporting Actor/Actress years ago. They should bring that back.

Far from the worst Logies i have ever seen (been watching since 1977). Finally Asher Keddie wins a peer voted prize! Some interesting results. Chris Lillie Most Popular Actor! I had him pegged last in that group. Housos? Logies execs must have been thrilled about Lincoln’s quip about comedy being scrapped and 4/5 nominees were comedies. Some great categories with lots of strong contenders. I didn’t miss a host – enough light moments with presenters. My wish – remove one musical number and replace it with a Supporting Actor & Actress. 5 minutes of an import pop star and really honour two local hard working actors in ensemble roles. We make a lot of great narrative telly! Show it
Thought the Logies were pretty bleh this year. Just really seemed lacking compared to previous times.
Also what was with those awards, which they quickly showed us were given earlier? First time they’ve done that I think. I pretty much always thought they showed us everything that was won and done on stage pretending it was live. Last night with the awards that weren’t properly shown definitely showed it wasn’t live.

Quite embarrassing to see what Australian’s regard as quality talent and personalities. Scott Cam? Really? Not to mention Home & Away beating some high quality dramas. The Logies have become an absolute joke.

Well it didn’t turn out to be the Offspring Awards after all. Hamish & Andy were very funny, and Richard Wilkins was just painful as always.

so happy (and surprised that it actually won) that Housos won the Outstanding Light Entertainment Program. Much deserving. Paul Fenech has been working hard on sbs sitcoms for over ten years.

I’m fairly sure Richard said ‘deck’ not ‘d***’, but we all know what he really meant.
I fast forwarded through Jason Derulo which I noticed started off with bad sound but it picked up as I started to FF.
I’m annoyed that they rushed through some awards with the ‘previously awarded’ type catchup. Didn’t get to see the full and deserving speeches or who was nominated. Knowing who was nominated could help with those shows future ratings and interest.
Hamish and Andy should have hosted it.
Too much emphasis on the musical performers is taking away from the fact it’s supposed to be a TV awards show. Hamish & Andy should have been the “official” hosts because their segments have actually been funny and relevant to television. They could have featured them in a couple more.
A bit of a rip-off that the Lifestyle, Childrens and Outstanding Newcomer awards were presented earlier and the nominees weren’t even shown. I would have put those two news and sport awards in that format instead.
I actually don’t mind Home & Away upsetting the apple cart.

what the hell. Are they trying to shorten things. They didnt even bother going through the format for best children, lifestyle or sports program. They just showed the speeches and said this was announced earlier. Im disappointed

How much are the logies on delay because a member of a show is holding a logie and tweeted it out they won and its from the best sports show.
Usually about 50 mins.
Home and away? Best drama? That’s a joke right… Right?!
