Naya Rivera out of finale, but not fired from Glee

Naya Rivera hasn't been fired from Glee say her reps, amid reports of a feud with Lea Michele.

naygl.jpgThere are conflicting reports today about the future of Naya Rivera, who plays Santana on Glee, with some suggestions she has been fired following a feud with Lea Michele (Rachel).

While that talk is being hosed down, what is confirmed is that she will not be appearing in the Season Five finale.

Her representative tells E! News, “Any reports or rumors circulating that Naya Rivera was let go or fired from Glee are absolutely untrue. End of story.”

“[Naya] isn’t fired and her not being in the finale has nothing to do with Lea,” another source who works on Glee said. “I don’t know where these stories are coming from, but they are not true.”

They come, in this instance, via the NY Daily News which reported she was fired. “There’s only room for one “Glee” diva” it wrote, claiming she was “jealous” of the attention on her Broadway-trained costar and producers were fed up.

The gossip follows reports that the two actresses recently had a verbal altercation on set.

The Hollywood Reporter also notes, reports that Rivera has been banned from set are untrue. Rumours that she cleaned out her trailer and won’t return to the series are being misrepresented as Rivera is already on hiatus from the show. It claims she has not received any letters from the network or studio to change her behaviour.

It has not been decided yet whether Rivera will return for Glee‘s sixth and final season.

The full cast won’t be finalised until the end of June.

  1. What new development – Riviera wasn’t fired for something that may or may not have happened?
When dueling battles between the star’s PR reps is all that is left of interest the show it is effectively over.

The Funny Girl opening ep rated a 0.8 with 18-49s in the US. It losing a star and just after it got renewed for 2 seasons, just one part of the train wreck that is FOX’s scripted content (there non-scripted content rates better but is being axed because it costs too much).

Santana was suddenly written out of the Funny Girl arc and packed off with Brittany a few weeks ago. That arc has been on again off again around Michele’s commitments. She is out of NYADA arc (which is flailing too), nearly 30 and has been linked with Universal’s production of Wicked.

That leaves Kurt whining and eating salads for brunch as they plunder story lines from PSA plots!

  2. What absolute rubbish! Gossip magazines are full of lies… There is no reason to believe this story is any different.
For people that watch the show you would know that in the storyline Naya and Lea’s characters have been fighting, that doesnt mean its happening in real life. Seems people are just blurring the lines between reality and a scripted tv show.
Naya probly has a minor movie role she’s shooting or is working on her upcoming album.

  3. This was reported in the US entertainment press ages ago. The original report said that Rivera launched a tirade at Lea for being late on set and keeping everybody waiting and that Lea wanted her sacked.

Another unnamed source said it was a trivial spat after a long day’s shooting, meant nothing and was quickly forgotten.
