2014-07-07_2055It premiered in the US in early June, streaming as an entire series, but Orange is the New Black will finally have its Australian return next week.

The award winning dramedy returns to show case for a second season. From Jenji Kohan, the creator of “Weeds”, Orange is the new Black tells the story of Piper Chapman, a sweet woman with a wild past that comes back to haunt her and sees her end up in a federal penitentiary.

Looking forward to this one!

8:30pm Wednesday July 16 on Showcase.

  1. @Mr. J – I agree it is one of the best and most satisfying endings of a season that I have ever seen.

The whole season is absolutely fantastic, probably less comedy this time around and more drama, however it is all the better for it. Especially in certain aspects where it shows how in the dark the prisoners can be kept about what is actually going on. Also the release of one prisoner and why they were released was one of the most heartfelt moments in a TV show in long time (and a poignant look at society and it’s values).

I didn’t mind the slow start as it had a lot going on in it and was part of the keeping the prisoners in the dark part I mention, so it worked for me.

  2. the final scene of season 2 must be one of the best, most rewarding scenes of television i’ve ever seen. unfortunately the season starts off slow, some people might be put off, but stick with it and it gets fantastic.

since the show is already available via legal means to australian viewers, is it fair to assume the spoiler policy is more relaxed?

  3. Just like Wentworth, Season 2 of Orange really hits its straps with the addition of a lead villain played by a seasoned actress.

Wonder if Foxtel will make the whole series available on demand like they did for S1.
