“As genius as he was on stage, he was the greatest friend you could ever imagine,” Billy Crystal said of Robin Williams at today’s Emmy In Memoriam tribute.
“Supportive, protective, loving. It’s very hard to talk about him in the past because he was so present in all of our lives. For almost 40 years he was the brightest star in the comedy galaxy.”

Such a lovely tribute. I still can’t believe he’s gone, so incredibly sad. What a funny, kind man.
Note how you can hear a pin drop during this – clearly the audience were told not to clap, since that turns death into a popularity contest as the big stars get applause and the lesser known behind-the-scenes people get nothing. It’s a classy and respectful thing to do that should be copied at the next TV Week Logie Awards
