Gotham given full series by FOX

Good news for Nine as FOX approves its Batman prequel for a full season.

2014-10-15_0016Batman-prequel Gotham has been given the green light for a full season by FOX.

The series, starring Ben Mackenzie, already had a 16 episodes and now collects six more episodes to a full-season 22.

The series premiered in Australia on Nine this week to 1.24m viewers.

The news is no surprise given it was FOX’s highest-rated fall drama debut in 14 years at 8.2m viewers and ties as Monday night’s No. 1 drama among adults 18-49.

Gotham debuted as one of the most buzzed-about shows of the fall, and with good reason,” said FOX TV Group chairmen Dana Walden and Gary Newman.

“Bruno Heller and Danny Cannon have created an incredibly rich world, with characters that draw you in and a cast that brings to life these heroes and villains in a way we’ve never seen before.”

Last week How To Get Away with Murder and Black-ish were awarded full-season pickups.

  1. Love the show … great cast and very engaging stories. Jada Pinkett-Smith and Ben McKenzie are brilliant, they own the screen. Also think Alfred and young Bruce Wayne are excellent.
Now, Nine, don’t f*** it up by moving it around!

  2. Was going to give this a try but didn’t due to nines poor treatment of arrow. Its a shame when the network a show is on becomes a factor in whether a show is watched.

  3. Sorry David, “Good news for Nine” suggests they will actually support the show with a regular timeslot, which we all know is unlikely. Fingers crossed though!
