More US remakes of UK titles are on the way, this time Chris O’Dowd’s comedy Moone Boy and short-run mystery The Town.
Both have aired in Australia on the ABC.
The autobiographical Moone Boy follows 12-year-old Martin Moone in a coming-of-age story as his sarcastic, imaginary friend helps him navigate the challenges of his childhood.
Chris O’Dowd is set to write and co-executive produce the series for the American ABC network.
Meanwhile Pretty Little Liars co-showrunner Oliver Goldstick will executive produce a US adaptation of The Town, with creator Mike Bartlett. Goldstick will also write the script based on the original in which Andrew Scott returns home to the provincial market town he grew up in following the death of his parents.

I understand that Americans have trouble watching foreign cultures, even if they are English-speaking, but you’d think an Irish show starring Hollywood star Chris O’Dowd would be the exception.
Seriously? What the hell is with all the remakes. Come up with some decent ideas instead of stealing old ones. Jeez US networks have to wake up already.
but why?
