US comedy performer, Jan Hooks, best known for Saturday Night Live, has died.

2014-10-11_0154US comedy performer, Jan Hooks, best known for Saturday Night Live, has died aged 57.

Variety reports she had been battling a serious illness.

Hooks was in the main cast of SNL from 1986 to 1991 along with with Dennis Miller, Mike Myers and Dana Carvey.

Her TV credits also include an appearance on 30 Rock, Designing Women, 3rd Rock from the Sun and The Simpsons.

Film credits include Pee-wee’s Big Adventure, Coneheads and Jiminy Glick in Lalawood

  1. Very sad considering how young she was. She was fantastic as Cousin Vicki in 3rd Rock, Jenna’s mother in 30 Rock and the voice of Apu’s wife in The Simpsons. RIP.

  2. That is very sad; she was too young. I loved her in 3rd Rock from the Sun; she elevated French Stewart’s performance as well as her own. They made a completely nutty and wonderful pair.
