SciFi title to become first original BitTorrent series

BitTorrent has announced its first original TV series, a sci-fi title, Children of the Machine.

The file-sharing platform will debut the series in the third quarter of 2015, via a BitTorrent Bundle download.

The show’s director said: “This is a science fiction show catered to the typical tech-savvy, male-dominated audience.

“We’re not trying to launch a romantic comedy, so the concept of this show moved us toward BitTorrent.”

BitTorrent has long been used for sharing copyright material illegally, but this marks the first original drama series to debut legally on the file-sharing platform.
