TEN set to unwrap Upfronts

Rumours: I'm a Celebrity host, Shark Tank host and more at TEN Upfronts tonight.

2014-11-13_0143TEN will tonight announce its 2015 Upfronts slate at what is expected to be a ‘jungle-themed’ event at The Star in Sydney.

High on the agenda will be host announcements for key shows including ITV produced I’m A Celebrity, Get me Out of Here!

TV Tonight hears whispers Dr. Chris Brown will be one of 2 hosts, expected to be partnered with a female co-host. Discussions continue on the list of celebs. The show airs Live 5 nights a week from South Africa early in 2015.

Another key announcement will be details of the local version of US hit Shark Tank. Rumours suggest Studio 10‘s Sarah Harris will land that role as inventors and entrepreneurs make their mark. Great to see a female host if this comes off, Harris has been a real find for TEN.

With Rove McManus’ guest spot set to end on The Project in coming weeks, it’s not clear who will become the regular third host for The Project. Former anchor Charlie Pickering is headed for the ABC while the well-regarded Waleed Aly lost his ABC vehicle, Big Ideas this week. It’s not clear if a new host will be announced tonight, so let’s hear some suggestions please….?

All eyes will be on the Drama announcements and whether TEN clarifies the future -or not- for fan favourite Offspring. We’ll happily take more Puberty Blues as compensation!

Expect The Biggest Loser in the second half of 2015 with some major revamping.

There have recently been rumours on a revival of This is Your Life (Matt White as host?) and what else has news boss Peter Meakin been up to? With cuts to the News dept. that will be a big ask.

While many have suggested Sam Frost for The Bachelorette, whispers suggest TEN has been mulling The Bachelor in Paradise

Last month TV Tonight also revealed Gogglebox would air a day after its Foxtel premiere. A landmark move.

2015 also marks 30 years for Neighbours -our longest running Drama. Look out for them being suitably honoured tonight.

Ironically the big announcements come at a time when new investors are circling the network, but to be fair other networks have their own problems: funding cuts, increasing online competition….. it’s been a tough year for TEN. Time to let down your hair and party.

For the latest announcements tonight follow TV Tonight’s twitter feed.

Corrected.

  1. I wish they would just get rid of Biggest Loser. That show is stale and passed its prime.

They should invest in something different and innovative like they used to do.

  2. After the promo just aired for Studio 10 tomorrow, “Sarah’s Big announcement” – I’d say it’s looking highly likely that it will be announced she will be involved in Shark Tank tonight.

  3. If it’s Kitty Flanagan on I’m a celebrity, I wont be watching it. For some reason she really rubs me up the wrong way.
Perhaps Felicity Ward? She’s great, plus She’s tiny and would look hilarious standing next to Chesty Bonds.

Hugh Sheredan might be a goer for the Project. I do love Rove though and I wish he’d stay.

  4. Definitely nother vote here for the wonderful Puberty Blues.

Agree with the comments here about Chris.
A lovely guy and very easy on the eye but not quite right as host of this – he’s just a little too “nice.”
Needs someone a bit more satirical.

  5. Thought Mike Munro was doing This is your life next year. Hope TEN is going to stop the three channel road block of Family Feud next year!! Network TEN needs to start to trend of live variety/late night shows. Is Thank God You’re Here coming back?

  6. Tommy Little would fit the Project chair but he’s in Melbourne on radio, I believe.
Or: Gretel Killeen, Kris Smith, Ryan Phelan, Denise Scott or Hugh Sheridan as left field ideas.

  7. Not sure about the Doc as a host for 5 nights a week show; especially Live TV – that will probably mean the end of Bondi Vet and limit his involvement in The Living Room.

Kate Langbroek wont be doing The Project as she has signed to ARN to do the national drive time shift with Dave Hughes.

  8. I don’t think Chris Brown is the right person for I’m a Celebrity.. was really hoping for a more dynamic hosting duo.

Looking forward to hearing all the announcements tonight!

  9. Kate Langbroek for The Project, but more Rove would be great.

I saw Sarah Harris for the first time last night on ABC and she was terrific, I hope 10 hang on to her. I reckon 7 would have their eye on her though.

Another vote for Puberty Blues, I love Offspring but was comfortable with the final. I would love it back though.

Agree with more drama, I’m sick of reality and can live without it forever unless something grabs me.

    Enough Loser already.

  10. @Tvf – Matt Doran has long been suggested on here as fitting that criteria.

If not The Project, would love Matt & Hermione Kitson back together on a return of the late news.

  11. If Blake Garvey is not a contestant on Im A Celebrity I will walk to China.

Dr Chris seems like a good choice of host – his ruggedness will suit the setting. I hope they get a female comedian for the co-host – its a very silly show and needs someone fun. Kitty Flanaghan would be perfect.

RE This is Your Life I have never seen the appeal of Matt White. He is so vanilla.

Do they need a male 3rd host for the Project? Why does it have to be 1 female with 2 males all the time? There have been some enormously popular female guest hosts recently (Kate Langbroek comes to mind).

  12. I’m interested in tens drama plans for 2015. The less reality the better. I would like to see a preview of shark tank because its something different.

The project needs a host that has a strong news background with a slight sense of humour not to be out of place on the project but not so comedic that there’s no point of difference from the other hosts. That’s a tough combination to find.
