Axed: Melissa & Joey

If she's headed to the jungle for TEN's Celebrity show, Melissa Joan Hart suddenly has a lot more time on her hands.

2015-02-10_1509If Melissa Joan Hart is set to be an Intruder on I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here! (and so far there is zero confirmation she is) then she suddenly has a lot more time in her schedule following the cancellation of her US sitcom Melissa & Joey.

America’s ABC has axed the series, co-starring Joey Lawrence, after four seasons and more than 100 episodes.

“We are proud of the milestones Melissa & Joey has achieved, being the network’s first sitcom to reach 100 episodes and the network’s first comedy to win a People’s Choice Award,” said ABC Family programming executive Karey Burke.

“Now that the kids are grown and Mel and Joe have married and are looking towards starting a family, it seemed like a natural time to bring the series to a close. We are grateful to Melissa Joan Hart and Joey Lawrence, and the whole cast and crew who worked so hard on this successful show.”

Hart is one of several celebrities rumoured to be going into the jungle on TEN’s show, especially after she began following Australian media on her Twitter account (newsflash: she actually follows 112,000 accounts).

More intruders are set to join TEN’s show, but no word on whom or when.

  1. I agree the quality has gone down since they got married but still a harmless lite show.
Weird it hasn’t made it to Australia after 4 seasons.

Would love to see Melissa Joan Hart on IASGMOOH!

  2. 4 seasons and over 100 episodes and still no Aust. broadcaster – and that is despite FOX8 having an output deal with ABC Family. I really thought it would have replaced Baby Daddy after the last season but FOX8 went with Cristela instead (which I’m not complaining about!). Oh well, surely it’ll get here sooner or later.

  3. I have noticed the show decline during season 3 and 4, and one of the children, Ryder is hardly in it this season, being it prerecorded “skype” scenes. The new daughter seems to be left out somewhat, and the first two episodes were out of continuity being Halloween and Christmas themed.
I’m assuming it still doesn’t air in Australia?
