Magda Szubanski & Marg Downey join Foxtel comedy

Fast Forward greats join forces on Foxtel's upcoming local comedy series.

2015-02-06_2359Magda Szubanski will make her return to TV comedy in Foxtel’s 2015 sketch comedy project.

She will be joined by former Fast Forward cast mate Marg Downey in the unnamed series, produced by Rick McKenna (Kath & Kim, Fast Forward) and Laura Waters (Summer Heights High, It’s a Date).

More big names are set to be revealed.

Filmed in front of a studio audience the 20 episode series will be a no-holds barred send-up of Australian culture, identities, celebrities, and politicians. Filming is already underway.

Foxtel Director of Television Brian Walsh this week told TV Tonight, “It will combine some of the biggest names in Australian comedy with some of the new, emerging talent in a weekly one hour show. It will tap into topical subjects, great Australian characters, and I think it will be fresh, funny and we are sparing no expense in terms of investing in the production of the show.

“We’ve commissioned the show with the intent that it becomes a long-running marquee title for Foxtel.”

It premieres later this year.

  1. Sounds interesting.

@Russell, I think that’s what The Roast was heading towards. Charles Firth has said his wish to have a rolling cast like SNL was what split him from the Chaser and lead him to form The Roast.

  2. Sounds great.

Would be cool if it’s produced within a 3 day window of air – like SNL in the US – so it can be really topical and current.

Actually SNL would not be a bad template to follow. Later night – Live – and topical – with guest hosts
