Renewed: The Blacklist, Law & Order: SVU, Grimm, Chicago Fire, Chicago PD.

Good news for Seven, TEN and Foxtel as NBC hands out early renewals for favourite shows.

2013-10-21_1202NBC has ordered new seasons for The Blacklist (S3), Law & Order: SVU (S17), Chicago Fire (S4) Grimm (S5) and Chicago PD (S3).

That’s good news for Seven, which screens several of the titles here, Foxtel and TEN.

Law and Order: SVU still has a few seasons to go before it can match the original Law and Order‘s 20 season run.

“The creative vision of the executive producers who’ve guided these outstanding dramas has been nothing short of incredible,” said Jennifer Salke, President of NBC Entertainment. “We’re highly appreciative of the passion they bring to their shows at every step of the creative process and we’re thrilled to reward that dedication with these renewals.”

Missing from the list of early renewals are more than 10 series including The Mysteries of Laura, Constantine, State of Affairs and comedies Marry Me and About a Boy.

Meanwhile Dick Wolf Productions is also planning another Chicago Fire spinoff, Chicago Med, which will be set in the Chicago Medical Hospital.

  1. Chicago PD and Fire are good shows. Blacklist is really repetitive and is only good during sweeps episodes IMO (like the most recent ep Seven showed where Berlin died and Tom went on the run)

  2. Seven only screens The Blacklist in primetime.

The others they appear to have onsold to Foxtel and have screened repeats of Grim and Chicago fire to fill late night and Summer slots.

Whether they are better of with them being renewed or cancelled depends on who produces the replacement shows and how well they would do.

  3. Good news, the Chicagos,Blacklist & SVU have been really good this season.

So the Chicago Med spinoff is true. There was a crossover late last season which almost seemed like the backdoor pilot for such a show and Dylan Baker has played a doctor in 2-3 eps of either show.
