Within a matter of hours we will know for sure, but the rumour mill suggests Guy Sebastian will represent Australia at Eurovision this year.

News Corp reports Sebastian and his manager Titus Day was spotted with SBS bosses at the headquarters of his label Sony just days after the announcement of an Aussie entry.

SBS is holding a press conference this morning at 9:30am to confirm the mystery act(s), which will be screened Live around the country at 9:30am.

Rumoured favourite Kylie Minogue has ruled herself out of contention.

“That’s not going to happen,” she said.

“It’s amazing how everyone is getting behind it and I’m very touched they all thought I could do it. I think it’ll be amazing to have someone else do it and I’ll be supporting them 100%.”

Other names on the rumour list include Jessica Mauboy, Kate Miller-Heidke and Megan Washington (Tina Arena, anyone?).

Organisers met with the bosses of Universal, Sony, EMI and Warner to discuss the availability of their artists.

The newspaper suggests SBS required the artist or their representatives to also contribute to costs associated with travelling and performing in Vienna.

    1. Yeah, right.
He’s a good singer, but so are so many others. They all sound much the same after a while. You really need something different (like this year!) to stand out in the crowd. A group would have been a far better choice – hey, maybe the Sapphires !

  1. *yawn* He was a real snoozer in World Idol, and I have no doubt that he will just as so in Eurovision.

I fully agree with Sophie. Any one of those singers (particularly Callea or Arena) would be much more likely to leave a strong impression on audiences. Guy is a decent enough singer and all, but his catalogue is utterly dull and safe.

  2. I was kinda hoping for an Anthony Callea and Tina Arena mega duet. Or some Ricki Lee/Samantha Jade/Dami Im powerhose diva action.
I like Guy and I’m sure he’ll do a great job. I just hope his performance is as anthemic and epic as when he did ‘Climb Every Mountain’ on Idol and not the homogenised hip hop/R&B stuff he’s currently doing.
