Seven supports ‘Paleo Pete’

Despite the controversy and derision over Paleo diets Seven is standing by its MKR judge.

He is the subject of ongoing scepticism -and even comedy- for advocating the Paleo Diet, but My Kitchen Rules star Pete Evans publicly has the backing of the Seven Network.

Even Gogglebox families last week were dubious about Evans as a judge on My Kitchen Rules, and there were gags at his expense on Mad as Hell. But Seven supports its judge, according to an article today.

“Pete’s genuine passion for a healthy life via a healthy lifestyle and a healthy diet is part of why the audience and Seven have so much respect for him,” a spokeswoman told News Corp.

“Pete is genuine about everything he does and, Seven supports Pete.”

If MKR were not rating through the roof it may have been a different story, but the network is proceeding with more episodes of The Paleo Way –which may well be an indulgence to keep talent happy.

By contrast Pan Macmillan will reportedly not publish his latest book, Bubba Yum Yum: The Paleo Way, co-authored with blogger Charlotte Carr and naturopath Helen Padarin.

An unnamed source told the newspaper, “He’s on thin ice at (the network).”

But they were claims denied by a spokesperson.

They still didn’t manage to answer the ongoing question: How does eat eat food on MKR which is seemingly at odds with Paleo? And can you even score fairly when a dessert is so full of sugar, or does one just spit it out when the cameras aren’t looking?

  1. I encourage everyone to read what Dr Karl has to say about it. It’s a struggle for me to put it politely – but it’s a fallacy at best.

  2. And how long did cavemen live?? This Paleo diet is a crock. Sure, many of the foods are healthy foods but what about some of the excluded foods?

    1. It’s not even based on what the science says about cave man’s diets. Just nonsense someone made up.

Even at it’s core principle, human civilization started when we started to farm.

      1. It is simply a healthier way to eat by cutting sugar and excess carbs from the diet. I have lost 25 kgs doing it. I still enjoy a treat here and there so I think a good mix is is healthy.

  3. I read one his weird devotees claiming he had quit the show last year due to being unable to reconcile the typical MKR food with the Paleo thing, so I was surprised to see him return this year. They must be very disappointed in him.

  4. The thing that I don’t get about this palaeo fad is why specifically choose what they imagine our ancestors ate in the Pleistocene Epoch? Why not the Pliocene or pre-Saxon Britain or the 18th century?

Anyone that thinks that early humans dined on bison and berries for every meal is kidding themselves. It was mostly grubs and tubers separated by periods of hunger. Meat or fish were occasional highlights for most. Cutting right back on sugar and highly processed foods is a good idea tho’.

  5. This is an interesting question indeed.
Surely a lot of the food served to them on MKR strongly disagrees with his ‘diet/style of living’. So is he actually eating it or is it merely for show? I’d be terribly disappointed if I were a contestant and I discovered one of the judges was spitting my food out!

    1. Seriously? I can only take it in small doses, and I think both judges are dreary, dull men, seriously lacking in personality. Off screen may be a different matter, but in MKR, just awful.

The Masterchef judges leave them for dead, although their role is somewhat different.

  6. MKR lost the last of it’s credibility with Evans eating? and criticing food, probably now proves this show is about drama etc not about the food

  7. Another ch 7 MKR story….dislike MKR!, Masterchef is coming soon looking forward to a real cooking show haven’t seen or heard anything about that on here yet..

    1. Not sure what you are implying. But the last Masterchef story was a ‘coming soon’ style story published on March 9. You can find it with a quick search. There are also real cooking shows from SBS filed here. Just sayin’….

      1. Was more saying about the hype in general from the media, media sources etc about MKR…but in regards to here there has been a number of articles about MKR March 1,2,3,4,9,11,18,20&22. I mean I know you have to report on the ‘now’ & ratings wise which you do a fantastic job- hence I’m always checking in, I just wish the other cooking shows got more credit and reported on more everywhere….Justsaying

        1. Yes there have been a lot of articles about MKR, many of which pertain to ratings. It is the #1 show on TV. But not every article has been necessarily complimentary, such as this one raising questions about the associations of one judge. Shows on air will nearly always outrank those not on air, and Masterchef’s turn will come. A quick check of the Tag Cloud indicates which shows have had most mentions on the site, and MasterChef is still ahead of MKR thanks to its longevity. Like you, I am looking forward to S7.

        2. Masterchef is like the desperate cashed-up bogan cousin to MKR, tryin ever so hard, loudly hailing its better than any other cooking show but no-one really listens to it anymore…. hence not on media radar.

          1. Rubbish. It enjoyed a resurgence last year. It’s not on the radar because it’s not on air. Should we write about Easter during Xmas?

          2. Are sure you’re not mixing the two shows up? If anything MKR is seriously bogan. Masterchef has a lot of class, including its judges.
