West Perth will not remove a logo for Nine News despite coercion by Seven.

It means fans in Perth may not see their team playing footy.

Seven will not broadcast any of its matches, while the team has Nine News logos on their guernseys.

“Channel Seven appears to be dictating the terms of the television schedule and, as announced on Saturday, has decided not to televise any games involving West Perth,” Falcons CEO David Crute said.

Falcons president Brett Raponi said Channel Nine was committed to its contract.

“[We] would like to continue discussions with Channel Nine, Channel Seven and the WAFC as the season progresses to obtain a more desirable outcome for all parties,” he said.

The biffo has even reached into an on-air story by Nine News.

A WAFC spokesperson said, “We are continuing to work with West Perth to ensure their games can be covered on the Seven Network.”

Sources said West Perth and Nine could potentially launch legal action against Seven and the WAFC but neither party is willing to take Seven to court.

  1. A smart move by Nine that Seven should have seen coming. We have to put up with all the “sponsorship” ads, now the boot is on the other foot, so to speak.

  2. Nine News has got some great publicity from this story nationally, thanks to Sevens refusal to show the team. So…. um….. thanks Seven for Nine’s free publicity

        1. My GF can’t afford to go to the GF because of the GFC but we’ll see the GFC in the GFCC before we taste a GFC. (GrandFinalCupCabinet, thecupcakequeens.com.au)
