Two more familiar faces from The X Files are confirmed for the revived sci-fi series.
David Duchovny, who was appearing on The Late Show with David Letterman to promote his new period drama Aquarius, was asked about the returning cast.
“Mitch Pileggi will come back,” (as Walter Skinner) he said, “and the Cigarette-Smoking Man — if this means anything to anyone — will be coming back.”
They join Duchovny, Gillian Anderson and creator Chris Carter for the event series. Duchovny told Letterman the show has picked up a new generation of fans.
“It’s a strange phenomenon that people still want to see those characters,” Duchovny noted, “but I’m grateful.”

How can you forget the CSM, one of the great TV bad guys. And William B Davis is a renowned Canadian character actor. He also played the ambulance driver in The Dead Zone, which I watched on cable last week.
CSM must be a hundred not out by now-he looked very weathered 15 years ago!
Turned 78 three days back..
I remember the Cigarette Smoking Man (Mulder’s father) being blown up in the series finale, but as we all know, people don’t stay dead forever in TVland.
Looking forward to this…Heroes Reborn…and Twin Peaks…year of the revival.
As Patrick Stewart said when promoting the last X-men, there’s vaporised and then there’s vaporised.
