New US comedy series Grace and Frankie, starring Jane Fonda, Lily Tomlin, Martin Sheen and Sam Waterston, has won a second season on Netflix.
“Let me say, it’s so awesome to do a show on Netflix,” said executive producer and co-creator Marta Kauffman, “because two and a half weeks after we launched, Miley Cyrus does a tweet about your show, and they call and say, ‘We’d like to do a season two.’ So yes, there is a season two. We have Ted (Sarandos, Chief Content Officer) and Miley to thank.”
The series sees Fonda (Grace) and Tomlin (Frankie) star as two women whose lives are suddenly turned upside down when their husbands reveal they are pursuing a same-sex marriage with each other.
Grace and Frankie is produced by Skydance Television for Netflix.
It will debut in 2016.
