Canadian sci-fi series Orphan Black has been renewed for a fourth season.

Currently airing its third season, it will return with ten episodes in 2016.

Orphan Black is an entirely fresh and original show that stands out even in today’s crowded TV landscape,” said Sarah Barnett, BBC America President and General Manager. “Tatiana Maslany’s buzzy, virtuoso performance headlines a brilliant cast and we are delighted to let our vocal and passionate fan base know that this wildly entertaining ride will continue next year.”

Co-creators John Fawcett and Graeme Manson said: “We’re thrilled to be moving forward with season four of the Orphan Black saga. Huge thanks to our partners Temple Street Productions, and to BBC America and Space. We’re extremely excited about where our story lines are going, and look forward to riding the rollercoaster with our amazing fans.”

  1. The more you find out about the central ‘mystery’, the less interesting it is to watch-many of these types of show suffer from this-I’m still watching the 3rd season but don’t find it as gripping-the suburban Soccer Mom becomes drug dealer plotline is straight out of ‘Weeds’ S1 and could be heading into ‘Breaking Bad’ territory-as for ‘jump the shark’ moments, the ‘male’ Tatiana was pretty damned close-wildly unconvincing.

  2. Great. Totally addicted to this show. I tend to forget that all the ‘sisters’ are the same actress. Tatiana Maslany is indeed incredible. The story is getting even more interesting now with the clone brothers.

  3. am so happy that this has been renewed.

I am usually not a big sci-fi fan, but with the great reviews for this show (including from this site), I gave it a go, and have remained loyal ever since. It’s a great little gem over on sbs2.

  4. Possibly my favourite all time TV series, not withstanding GOT.
Just hope there’s not a “shark to be jumped” which would take much away from this amazing show and the talented Tatiana Maslany

I hope the creators use S4 to tie up story, and not meander indefinitely.

    1. The creators have said in the past that they aim for 5 seasons. Problems emerge when shows go too far beyond what was initially planned. I can’t see OB being an 8, 9 or 10 season thing. 5 sounds about right. I just hope SBS continues to have the rights! Being able to view it straight after the US is great.
