Empire casting: Mariah Carey could end up on James Packer’s network

If talk of a potential appearance on Empire is realised, then Mariah Carey could wind up appearing on TEN, in which James Packer still has shares.

While James Packer is no longer on the TEN board, Consolidated Press Holdings still has a stake in the network.

Empire co-creator Lee Daniels revealed her Empire guest appearance at Carey’s Walk of Fame ceremony this week, but FOX declined to comment.

She confirmed she would not be playing herself, but a character.

“That’s the goal,” she said. “I’m very excited about it.”

Of course Carey has in recent years been a judge on American Idol, which also screened on TEN, just not at the same time as her relationship with one of its shareholders.
