Clarkson, Hammond, May begin filming new show

Former Top Gear hosts now filming their new project in Portugal for Amazon.

Former Top Gear hosts Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May have begun filming their new project in Portugal for Amazon.

There’s no title for the new venture announced as yet, but in his cheeky style, Clarkson reckons he has assembled a “skeleton crew.”

It’s not clear who will pick up the show for the Australian market as yet.

  1. I agree for the biggest audience I hope it’s on FTA and SBS or ABC would be my number one choice if they can afford it. But given the possible high cost it’s more likely to go to a commercial channel or Foxtel. But just maybe Amazon Prime will open up here or have an international channel to allow everyone to pay for access.

  2. I wouldn’t be shocked if it is like the old Top Gear arrangement. Foxtel get it first and ‘fast-tracked’ whilst FTA wait a couple of months to show it. If the SBS get it I’ll eat my shoe. They won’t be able to afford it.

    1. It could be a good strategic move to put it on SBS, get 1M every Monday like the good old days, build the new brand then start the rebranded live shows. Foxtel is good but they won’t get the numbers and well we all remember what happened with nine!

  3. Let’s hope it’s on FTA TV as we don’t get Amazon Prime.

Do you think Amazon will charge a lot for broadcast rights? seeing as they spent over $100million just for Clarkson Hammond and May?

    1. Wouldn’t it be the absolute best if SBS could afford it? Top gear was always aired on schedule and at a regular time on a regular day back when it was an SBS show…
