Speculation today that Amazon could launch an SVOD service in Australia on the back of the upcoming show featuring former Top Gear presenters Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May.
In June the trio joined signed a deal with Amazon Prime for an untitled new series, expected to launch in Spring.
A new SVOD service would pit Amazon Prime Instant Video against Netflix, Stan and Presto.
Amazon’s other original titles include Transparent and Mozart in the Jungle, both available via Stan, Bosch on SBS, and acclaimed series The Man in the High Castle -yet to screen in Australia.
But it has also ramped up its original programming in recent years including Casanova with Bojana Novakovic and Patriot with Michael Dorman.

If Amazon doesn’t launch but licenses the Top Gear show to Stan that would be great too .
If it comes with the launch of Amazon Prime in Australia – then bring it on.
The new show would be great – but the rest will be awesome.
