Molly doco is The Real Thing

This fab doco spans a much wider view of Molly than the miniseries

I’m happy to report that the documentary Molly: The Real Thing is more than worthy of your attention.

While the Molly miniseries focussed on the backstage dramas of Countdown, this spans a much wider view of his career.

From his brother Brian talking about family years, to Ronnie Burns reminiscing about living together, the Go Set years, The Beatles in Melbourne, Sunbury Music Festival, Kommotion, Countdown, Hey Hey it’s Saturday (briefly), Melodian Records, Moomba king, house parties, Egypt, St Kilda Football Club, Melbourne Storm and more.

The roll-call of interview contributors is vast: Kylie and Dannii Minogue, Hugh Jackman, Gene Simmons, Suzi Quatro, Tina Arena, Michael Gudinski, Kate Ceberano, Russell Morris, Colin Hay, Mark Seymour, Jimmy Barnes, Daryl Braithwaite, Johnny Young, Ross D. Wylie, Red Symonds, Paul Hogan, Steve Vizard, Lenny Hayes, Nick Riewoldt, Billy Slater, Michael Chugg, Lindsay Fox.

You might even get teary as Delta Goodrem turns emotional, you’ll see photos of his son and partner, hear from an early girlfriend Sandy Breen and get goosebumps as everybody dons the hat. It just celebrates the love for a great Australian.

The only other doco in the same realm was The Molly Meldrum Story on MAX.

8:30pm Sunday on Seven.
