US actor James Noble, best known as Benson‘s Governor, has died aged 94.
He suffered a stroke last week and died on Monday in Connecticut.
He played Governor Eugene Gatling on Benson from 1979 – 1986, the same role he played on Soap. Benson (Robert Guillaume) started out as Gatling’s director of household affairs but eventually became lieutenant governor, across two shows.
Other credits included As the World Turns, Another World, McCloud, Starsky and Hutch, Hart to Hart, Fantasy Island, The Love Boat, Scarecrow and Mrs. King, Murder She Wrote, and Law and Order.
Film credits included 10, Being There, Dragonfly, 1776, Airplane II: The Sequel and Chances Are.

I know it lists he appeared in an episode of The Bill on IMDB but I reckon it’s a mistake.
On epguides it shows a picture of the James Noble in that ep and it’s an actor who looks like he was in his 20/30’s at the time,who was also in a couple of other British shows.
Ok I’ll delete. It did seem a bit random.
Sad news. I was just watching Benson on 7flix last week and was having a good laugh. James was so funny as the Governor.
