US actor Robert Horton, best known for pioneering series Wagon Train, has died. He was 91.

He died on March 9th, having previously been injured in a fall in November.

Horton starred as frontier scout Flint McCullough on Wagon Train from 1957 to 1962.

He also starred as the title character in another TV western, A Man Called Shenandoah, which lasted just one season (1965-66). He also performed the theme song.

Other credits included The Lone Ranger, The Millionaire, Kings Row, The Sheriff of Cochise, Alfred Hitchcock Presents, Police Woman, Murder, She Wrote and the daytime soap As the World Turns.

Film credits included A Walk in the Sun, Bright Road, Men of the Fighting Lady and the Japanese sci-fi The Green Slime.
