It already has its second Logie nomination (in the public-voted section, no less) and now Marngrook Footy Show has helped NITV to its best-ever ratings share.
On Thursday the channel drew a 1.1% share -modest compared to other multichannels, but at 11 times higher than its usual share of just 0.1%. Last week it was 0.8%.
It pipped ABC3 and was not far behind ABC News 24, GEM and 7flix.
Marngrook drew 58,000 viewers -49,000 of them in its home city of Melbourne- followed by the movie What Becomes of the Broken Hearted? (31,000).
Tanya Denning-Orman, NITV Channel Manager told TV Tonight: “As part of NITV’s rebrand, we have focused on building a strong Thursday night offering from 7.30pm – featuring the successful Marngrook Footy Show, The Point with Stan Grant and iconic Thursday night movies. We are thrilled that this is resonating with our audiences.”
With just one night at 1.1%, NITV is also likely to draw its best ever weekly ratings share.
SBSÂ has previously noted a large section of NITV’s audience includes northern Australia and regional viewers, not included in OzTAM’s 5 city metro.

Good one!
Well done to NITV for getting it’s highest ratings share so far. The little hidden gem, The Marngrook Footy Show has finally got an audience. I hope the Stan Grant show does well too.
A shame that virtually no one watches this station on other nights.
Good news for NITV.
And my husband was one of those regional viewers 🙂
