Walking Dead prequel Fear the Walking Dead has been renewed for a third season less than a week after its second season premiere.
“What (creators) Dave Erickson and Robert Kirkman have invented in Fear The Walking Dead is to be applauded,” said Charlie Collier, president of AMC, SundanceTV and AMC Studios.
“Watching Los Angeles crumble through the eyes of our characters and seeing each make decisions and try to figure out the rules of their new world – it’s fresh, eerie and compelling and we’re all in for the ride.”
Deadline notes Season Two was down 34% in total viewers from its 2015 premiere but is still the second highest rated show on US cable in the 18-49s demos, behind only The Walking Dead itself.
A 16-episode run will debut in 2017.
Season Two is currently screening in Australia on FX.

People need to totally divorce themselves from TWD & need to remember they too were also unaware of the state of play and said and did ,in hindsight silly things, this FTWD is fabulous
I found the first ep of season 2 annoying, with those pesky teens doing dumb things. Hopefully, things will improve.
Strand (captain of the boat) is easily the best character on here. The rest are kinda dull
Interesting that he said ‘watching Los Angeles crumble…’ Now that sounds like a good show, when will that be on?! /snark/
On another note, do you know when FTWD season 2 will be available on iTunes? I watched the premiere but want to watch with subtitles, I find so many shows a bit muffled these days. It was a bit boring last week but Frank Dillane is so good that it’s keeping me hooked for now.
No I don’t track iTunes or DVDs etc. Enough to keep up with broadcast!
True! I tried to find out online to no avail so thought there might be an off chance you’d heard.
