Season 2 of US comedy Ballers will premiere in mid-July.

The series starring Dwayne Johnson as a retired NFL player turned financial manager begins 8.30pm Tuesday July 19 on Showcase.

This is one day after its US debut.

Spencer Strasmore (Dwayne Johnson) and his boys are back to “ball out” in a brand-new season of HBO’s hit comedy from Steve Levinson (Entourage) that digs deeper into the extravagant, high-stakes world of football in Miami, FL.

Whilst I enjoyed the first season for the most part (Dwayne Johnson is so charismatic he makes this heterosexual think twice ?), however I thought the drama was lite on in the first season and the resolutions were too easy, it didn’t feel like the stakes were very high… I hope they improve the storylines this time around.
