It’s a clash of two iconic TV presenters when Professor Brian Cox and adventurer Bear Grylls line up for Star in a Rallycross Car on next week’s episode of Top Gear.

Professor Brian Cox confesses to an accident prone streak with cars, starting with his first ever car:

“I ended up wrapping it around a lamp post.

“Moton is relative.

“And so it is perfectly possible to define myself as being in what’s called an inertia frame of reference. As long as I wasn’t accelerating in the car, and so the lamppost was moving towards me!

“I’ve never had great cars. I had the Fiesta, I had an Escort which blew up on the motorway, a Rover 213 SE that I drove into the side of a transit van.

“That wasn’t my fault!”

The new series of the world’s biggest motoring show continues as Chris Evans, Matt LeBlanc and Sabine Schmitz buy cheap second-hand cars and head for Venice. The aim? To prove road travel can be more luxurious than taking the train. Elsewhere, Rory Reid heads to New York to sample the all-electric Tesla Model X, while Chris Harris dons his race helmet to drive the most powerful Aston Martin of all time, the fearsome Vulcan. Bear Grylls and Brian Cox are this week’s Stars In A Rallycross Car.

  1. The early shows of the new team seem so forced to make you want to like them. Nothing relaxed or flowing. Time will tell what happens with such big shoes to fill, but as I posted before, I think I will not bother for a while. And the obvious ‘canned laugher, oohs and ah’s’ in the studio is just not necessary. And then there is Chris Evans constant yelling.
