Next week SBS (of course!) premieres the doco The Porn Factor.
Interviewing subject from Australia and overseas it analyses how porn is shaping peopl’e expectations and how to equip young people for safe and consenting sexual experiences.
A doco with a message after all!
Readily available and aggressively marketed online, exposure to hardcore pornography is now mainstream. No match for the parent talk, with its endless array of gyrating bodies, porn offers a quick, easy and anonymous sexual charge. Porn has become the default sexuality educator for young people growing up online.
The Porn Factor co-directed and produced by Maree Crabbe, journeys from regional and urban Australia, to the centre of the international porn industry in Los Angeles and back. Through candid interviews with young people, experts and porn industry professionals, it explores how pornography is shaping young people’s sexual expectations and experiences, bringing into compelling focus the 21st century challenges faced by parents, schools and others as they seek to equip young people for a sexuality that is safe, respectful and fully consenting.
