Harry exits MasterChef

21 year old Queenslander's departure leaves Matt & Elena to face off for MasterChef glory.

MasterChef Australia Elimination #23. Harry Foster, Queensland, 21, Cocktail Bartender.

Queenslander Harry Foster has left the MasterChef kitchen after last night’s semi-final.

Despite cooking 2 courses for 20 people, the 21 year old bartender lost out with judges concluding the flavour of his lobster was lost because he used kingfish.

His exit puts series favourite Matt Sinclair against Elena Duggan in tonight’s Grand Final.

The quest for a $250,000 prize and the series title includes a three course meal and the return of Heston Blumenthal -whose pressure test alone is a five and a half hour challenge.

Tonight’s massive Finale will be played out in a culinary duel over three rounds, covering three courses.

The finalists are competing for a $250,000 cash prize and a monthly column in Australia’s leading premium food magazine, Delicious. The contestant with the most points at the end of round three will claim the title of Australia’s MasterChef for 2016.

Round one is the entrée. The judges tell the contestants they must create a dish using one ingredient as the hero, from the 10 ingredients the judges have chosen for them. They must make three plates of food, one for each of the judges. They have 60 minutes, an open pantry and access to the garden. With 30 points up for grabs, the pressure is on to impress.

The second round is the main course and for this round, there are no rules. They have 75 minutes to cook any cuisine, any style, with access to the pantry and the garden. This is their chance to show the judges just how far they have come in the competition. With another 30 points up for grabs, there is a lot at stake.

For the final round, the contestants will face one of the most difficult finale pressure test rounds ever. The judges reveal that today they must make an epic dessert, created by guest chef Heston Blumenthal and his head chef at Dinner By Heston, Ashley Palmer-Watts.

They will have five-and-a-half half hours to cook the dish. The judges, Heston Blumenthal and Ashley Palmer-Watts will taste and score the final dishes out of 40 points.

When the points are tallied, the winner of MasterChef Australia 2016 will be crowned.

  1. Harry and Elise were both badly off their game in the quarter final and the right decision was made. In the semi Harry was almost there but not quite, so again a fair result. Both Matt and Elena are deserving finalists and its too close to call, I would be happy to see either win it. Maybe the anti-matters can get over themselves

  2. Pitiful how the anti-Matt-ers can’t resist their daily anti-Matt rant. Claiming the producers tell the judges who to eliminate is childish and insulting to the judges, the producers and to the contestants. Don’t let the fact that the eliminated contestants this week, and previously, made basic mistakes stand in the way of a good diatribe. It is a talent-based show, not a popularity contest.

  3. From memory this isn’t filmed months in advance with two possible endings like MRK? Is that right David? Looking forward to the finale. Wishing both Elena and Matt the best.

  4. Masterchef does a lot well, but they need to tone down the way Ther judges, especially Gary carry on towards their favourites (or who the producers tell then their favourites are). Gary practical starts gushing at the mention of Matt’s name.

    1. Well I picked Matt from the very beginning to win, or at least get to the last 3-4 contestants. And if I can see that, the judges are way closer than me! And his food (nearly) always looks like something to gush about.
