The Bachelor tops TEN’s night

Ratings: The Bachelor & Offspring top the night for TEN, while Roots is off to a good start on SBS.

The return of The Bachelor may not have matched the broad appeal of MasterChef but it still did good business for TEN.

At 882,000 it was up on its 2015 launch of 846,000, and topped the Demos. Together with Offspring, it helped  TEN to finish as the leading primary channel again last night.

Seven News and ACA again won their respective slots.

Public broadcasters also had good news. Both 7:30 and the season finale of Mad as Hell were up while Roots topped the night at SBS.

But multichannels took Seven to the front with a network share of 26.4% then Nine 24.7%, TEN 23.4%, ABC 17.4% and SBS 8.2%.

Seven News (1.05m / 964,000) was #1 for Seven then Home and Away (726,000), Border Security (699,000), The Force (684,000), The Chase (630,000 / 386,000), Criminal Minds (619,000) and Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders (323,000).

Nine News was 1.01m / 952,000 for Nine then A Current Affair (808,000), Hot Seat (574,000) and RBT (570,000).  The Footy Show was 190,000 in 2 cities and movie: The Hunger Games was 180,000 in 3 cities.

The Bachelor was 882,000 for TEN then Offspring (726,000). The Project was 685,000 / 472,000, TEN Eyewitness News was 523,000 and Madam Secretary was 192,000.

ABC News (798,000) topped ABC’s night followed by 7:30 (749,000), Mad as Hell (710,000), QI (612,000) Catherine Tate’s Nan (304,000), Antiques Roadshow (293,000) and Adam Hills: The Last Leg (294,000).

On SBS it was Roots (320,000), Flying Scotsman with Robson Green (269,000), and SBS World News (155,000).

Peppa Pig (268,000) topped multichannels once again.
