Oops. Olympics “in beautiful Barcelona”

7TWO presenter gets a tad confused between 1992 and 2016 Olympic cities.

2016-08-10_1914

It was a case of back to the future for one of 7TWO’s Olympics presenters who accidentally told viewers the Equestrian finals were “right here on 7TWO in beautiful Barcelona, where the city is sparkling today!”

Could it be that the poor bloke was one of those left behind in Sydney commentating via monitor?

Not like 1992 when he was probably flown to Barcelona….

  1. Another odd mistake that I kept seeing was broadcasters saying they were in Copacabana when they were in Ipanema. They are next to each other, but around a small headland. It was just an odd mistake. I think in all the footage Media Watch had of people saying they were in Copacabana was Ipanema.

No one probably cares but as someone who spent some time there last year, it was strangely annoying.

  2. Is his name David Richardson. passing off Majorca as Barcelona in the chase for Skase?
“what difference does it make if he was in Rio or not he still would have made the mistake”. Illogical. His thinking is “damn you Seven. If you had actually sent me to Rio I would then know where these horsey jumping thingies are actually happening”.

      1. No, David Richardson, Today Tonight reporter. “Richardson was sent to Majorca by Today Tonight to pursue Christopher Skase. Richardson accosted Skase in his usual manner, but Skase did not engage with him. Richardson, driving past police, exclaimed “Roadblocks! Let’s get out of here”. Media Watch proved, through examining the broadcast report, that this footage was shot in Barcelona, not on the island of Majorca as was claimed. The “police” that Richardson was passing were in fact Spanish urban guards, who use roadblocks to control traffic flow in central Barcelona”.

  3. Firstly he was not a commentator but a presenter doing hosting duties for 7two and 7mate. Secondly Yes he is based in Sydney like the other 95% of seven Staff. They only have a handful over there. Thirdly what difference does it make if he was in Rio or not he still would have made the mistake
