New US drama Quarry will premiere on Showcase next month.

The series stars Logan Marshall-Green as a Marine who returns home from Vietnam but is ostracized in his hometown, who is lured into becoming a hitman.

The series, which also features Aussie Damon Herriman, was produced by HBO for Cinemax in the US, where it premiered last week.

Set in and around Memphis during the early 1970s, Quarry is a thrilling action drama that centres on the character of Mac Conway, a Marine who returns home from a second tour of duty in Vietnam, only to find himself stigmatized by his involvement in a highly publicized massacre while fighting abroad. Though he and his fellow Marine Arthur Solomon have been exonerated of wrongdoing, they are greeted with hostility and rejection in Memphis, with neither able to land a decent job.

With Mac’s relationship with his wife Joni growing tenuous, he and Arthur are tempted by a lucrative offer from The Broker, a shady criminal involved in a network of killing and corruption that spans the length of the Mississippi River. At first, Mac refuses to offer up his services to The Broker, but after Arthur opts to trade his principles for quick cash, Mac – whom The Broker codenames “Quarry” – finds himself conscripted against his better judgement into The Broker’s crew, a turn of events that has dire consequences for both himself and Joni.

Monday, October 3 at 9.30pm on Showcase.

  1. Only a month after US release? By the time this hits showcase, episodes 1-4 will be easily available.

All rights holders should have a legislated “air it within a week or lose it” condition imposed on them where they choose to hold exclusive rights to content.

I realise it is pointed out that it screened last month in the US in the article, that’s great to see.
