Even dear old SBS sometimes whips out shows at short notice.

Dancing Cheek to Cheek, which premiered last Friday night, is now elbowed to a new timeslot, replaced by a repeat of Secrets of the Manor House: “Highclere Castle” at 7:30pm this Friday. Highclere Castle is home to Downton Abbey.

Now on the dance card for the UK series is the dud time of 4:20pm Saturdays from September 24.

A food doco Why Are Thin People Not Fat? due at 7:30pm on Thursday September 29 is now replaced by a repeat of The Diet Myth.

It remains to be seen if there is any difference between the two…

SBS recently bumped Richard Hammond’s Jungle Quest.

  1. I don’t mind them doing it but at least place an announcement in the original timeslot pointing to the new one. However chasing views does not work as Seven knows only too well; you have to build the audience with promotion then create a following. Classic was ‘The Five’, also SBS prime-time, but again no promotion so bumped of the dark hours. I had to phone SBS to find the new slot, only to be greeted with, ‘…. Oh we’re having a lot of enquiries about that change’. I rest my case about informing the punters in original timeslot about the changes. It’s thought that for every one phone call made to a TV station there are 500 homes that feel the same but don’t call.
