The lawyer for the family of JonBenét Ramsey is threatening to sue CBS for libel after the documentary
The Case of: JonBenét Ramsey implicated Burke Ramsey for her murder.

“I will be filing a lawsuit on behalf of Burke Ramsey,” said Ramsey family’s longtime attorney, L. Lin Wood. “CBS’s false and unprofessional attacks on this young man are disgusting and revolting.”

In a statement the network said: “CBS stands by the broadcast and will do so in court.”

As a then-9 year old Burke Ramsey is considered under the “minimum age for criminal responsibility” in the state of Colorado and remains immune from prosecution. Burke recently spoke to Dr. Phil denying involvement in her murder.

But surviving parent John Ramsey could potentially face charges if Boulder Country District Attorney Stan Garnett re-investigates the case and presses charges as accessory after the fact to murder.

Despite its claims the CBS documentary carried a huge disclaimer as the credits rolled.

  1. Certainly very engrossing viewing. Anyone concerned about the ad content? I timed a random but continuous 48 minutes—-17 minutes of adverts, 35% of screen time. Is that the price we have to pay?

  2. It was intriguing to watch and a pretty damning conclusion to what happened. The interviews of a 9 and 11yr old Burke were pretty amazing to see too. Nothing about the investigation in that doco was over the top or contrived, it just made complete logical sense. Hope the case is reopened.

  3. I imagined there would have been 20 lawyers looking over that show before they aired it. Including how every thing was worded. Why hasn’t the father come out and slammed the show and said how horrific and terrible the whole thing was.
