The latest celebrity to be getting the TV drama treatment is Shane Warne, according to a media report today.
Screentime and Seven will put forward a funding submission to Screen Australia this week proposing a drama about the star cricketer.
Warne’s life has attracted plenty of headlines, notably for his rollercoaster romantic life, falling from grace and links to glamorous women including Liz Hurley. His life has previously been the subject of an acclaimed stage musical by Eddie Perfect.
The Sunday Telegraph claims Nine has previously shown interest in a Warne bio-drama, but Seven is moving forward with its own.
Next year Seven will screen a Paul Hogan drama starring Josh Lawson while plans for another on Olivia Newton-John have gone quiet of late.
It’s not known if the project has the approval of Warne.

Quite happy about this. I hope they do four hours and kill the bio pic one and for all!
this completely highlights everything that is wrong with Australian TV…
??..What everyone else said….
Why
seriously why. It will be more about drama/scandal than his great cricket career. Please dont do it.
So who has the Beirut / 60 Minutes saga telemovie rights? Or too soon?
I’ll only watch if they focus on his time on IACGMOOH. (Actually, no, I lie. I probably won’t watch it anyway.)
Seriously? Spare us.
Ugh.
Yes, I know that’s not a particularly deep comment, but hey it’s honest!
How about Seven and Screentime just show the Eddie Perfect musical and save money.
I guess 7 will make a tellimovie/mini series out of anyone and anything?
