Former Biggest Loser instructor Michelle Bridges has lost an application for an AVO against a 21-year-old photographer in a Sydney court today.
Bridges had previously told Downing Centre Local Court she felt “threatened” and “violated” after Mendes snapped her inside Woolworths, and on another occasion as she left a restaurant with her family.
But Magistrate Joanne Keogh said she did not believe Mendes behaviour had made her genuinely fearful and a court could not “regulate behaviour so that someone is courteous.”
Outside court, Mendes said the decision was an important demonstration of the right of the media to do its job. But he did not indicate if he intended to continue photographing Bridges.
“It’s been a very stressful time but I’m very happy it’s over,” he said.
Michelle Bridges did not attend the court today.
