Sports presenter Garry Lyon may yet return to Footy Classified according to a media report yesterday.
Fairfax reports Lyon remains “firmly in the frame to regain his role as host of Footy Classified,” but his future will become clearer next month.
Lyon retreated from media commitments in February to address mental health issues, amid headlines surrounding an affair with the wife of Footy Show‘s Billy Brownless.
There has also been speculation about a move to Seven or FOX Footy, but discussions are reportedly yet to commence. A role with Triple M is also touted.
Meanwhile Footy Show host James Brayshaw is also in contract discussions, with suggestions these have proven “difficult” of late.
GTV9 boss, Ian Paterson, said “At this stage of things, it’s a busy time for us, those who are out of contract … and other things that are going on. There is quite a bit going on and [we are] far from having the dust settle on things.”
Lyon is still under contract to Nine.

He was good on Footy Classified, but I felt he lacked the personality required for The Footy Show.
This comment is not an opinion on the situation discussed nor stating what is right or wrong with the situation.
Its just that it was widely reported at the time that neither gary lyon or the former wife of billy brownless were in other relationships at the time they were together. The way this article is written implies otherwise and I think it could be worded better.
I disagree, Billy and his wife were still married at the time, so David is correct in his wording. Also, Billy Brownless has said that he doesn’t know whether the affair was going on while he was still with his wife or not.
I reckon he’d be suited to Fox
I like to see him return to Nine but just on Footy Classified.
Brayshaw, Maddern and Newman are good on the FootyShow
