At the Senate Estimates hearing this week Senator Peter Whish-Wilson asked ABC executives, “Could you tell us when Q&A was last in Tasmania?”

Director of Corporate Affairs Michael Millett said, “I was certainly at one about 3 or 4 years ago. I’d have to check on record. We made a point of taking Q&A more around the country and it certainly does make a big effort to try and travel to different parts. It’s not cheap.

Editorial Director Alan Sunderland added, “We made a commitment in the last 12 months to increase the amount of travel the programme does. So we are looking to travel more.”

An ABC review recommended further travel after the show’s infamous ‘Zaky Mallah’ incident last year.

Senator Peter Whish-Wilson noted, “You do have Senator Lambie on the show a lot. She’s on about every second or third week. But it would be good to see it in Tassie.”

TV Tonight understands Q&A was last in Tasmania in April 2013 -when the Senator was actually on the panel.
