Doctors will know more on Maria Venuti’s condition on Wednesday.
She briefly opened her eyes and moved her hand and arm on Sunday, before slipping back into semi-consciousness.
She remains in an critical condition in Royal North Shore Hospital following an alleged stalker outside her home on Saturday. The 75 year old entertainer suffered a stroke during the encounter.
Venuti had been subjected to an alleged stalker in recent weeks and previously alerted police.
On Saturday daughter Bianca phoning police when she could not reach her mother on the phone. Neighbours also reported screaming before police arrived.
The showbiz industry and public have made an outpouring of love to Venuti’s family following the news breaking yesterday.
“As of now there is no change. Doctors have advised that the next few days are very important,” publicist Amanda Buckworth said in a statement on behalf of the family.
“Once Maria has come through this period her daughter Bianca will update everyone. Bianca wishes to thank everyone most sincerely for their well-wishes.”
A 38 year old man is reportedly undergoing psychiatric assessment.
