Live streaming of the Melbourne Cup was up 18 per cent on Cup Day in 2015.

Seven’s digital channels including PLUS7 Live had more than 575,000 total streams across the day, according to Seven.

The numbers come on top of the 1.986 million viewers who averaged in the 5 city metro areas.

Seven claims adding in regional viewers it lifted to 2.801 million viewers.

These TV ratings do not take into account out-of-home viewing in pubs/clubs and offices.

Last year’s race was the largest ever streamed event at the time with more than 488,000 Australians streaming the coverage across the day, and over 300,000 concurrent streams during the main race.

A run by Usain Bolt during the Olympics broke that record with 369,000 concurrent streams.

This year’s Melbourne Cup was also Live streamed separately via Twitter.
