Returning: Ripper Street

The fifth and final season Ripper Street begins on BBC First this week.

The six part series features Matthew MacFadyen (Pride and Prejudice), Jerome Flynn (Game of Thrones), Adam Rothenberg (Elementary), Myanna Buring (Banished), David Threlfall (Shameless), and Matthew Lewis (Happy Valley).

This premiered in the UK last month.

A crime drama which has explored the criminal underworld of London’s East End through the final years of the Victorian age, comes to its logical conclusion – at the death knell of that era. The final series of Ripper Street finds its end during the cold winter of 1901.

It takes our heroes to a place where a dark secret they all share emerges to destroy the lives they’ve built, and – we fear – the lives they once hoped to have.

8.30pm Friday on BBC First.
