So what’s been the Story of the Year?

I'm now taking suggestions for Story of the Year and Blunder of the Year.

It’s nearly time to open voting on the TV Tonight Awards for 2016.

Nearly all of the categories are open for you to enter whomever you please.

But there are two pre-determined categories: Story of the Year and Blunder of the Year.

Frankly there is one incident that I reckon will top both categories this year (and that would be a first).

But I thought I would ask for extra suggestions to add into these categories.

Remember that the Story of the Year could be a single issue, trend or change. It’s the thing that we will look back on 2016 as its TV legacy, for better or worse.

And yes, both sections will also carry an “Other” option.

Over to you….

  1. Biggest blunder – putting new channels onto MPEG-4 where nobody can watch them. And I note the ABC has put their new HD service on MPEG-4 as well. Perhaps when they get the ratings figures next year they will finally realise their monumental folly.

  2. Biggest disappointment, 7flix. A movie every night at 8.30, picture but no sound, retune again, 10eps of BBT in a row, old syndicated shows on constant rotation, etc.
Biggest blunder, 60 minutes using Child Abduction Recovery International to “recover” children in Lebanon.
