Strictly Come Dancing topped the Christmas Day TV ratings of 2016, based on overnight figures.
The Queen’s Christmas Message actually had more overall viewers with a total audience of 7.7 million, but this was aired across ITV, BBC One and Sky News.
Top 5 shows:
Strictly Come Dancing – BBC One, 7.2 million
Great British Bake Off – BBC One, 6.3 million
Mrs Browns Boys – BBC One, 6.1 million
Coronation Street – ITV, 6.1 million
Call The Midwife – BBC One, 6.1 million
Elsewhere Doctor Who secured an audience of 5.7 million on BBC One while Paul O’Grady’s For The Love Of Dogs Xmas treat on ITV had 3.2 million viewers as did Maigret (3.2 million) on ITV.

Is “Strictly Come Dancing” the stupidest title ever???
Based on that, I can honestly say I do not miss Christmas TV in the UK in the slightest.
