Women’s Footy panel show coming to Nine

Tiffany Cherry to host panel show to run during the AFLW season in February & March.

Nine has announced Women’s Footy, a panel show dedicated to the AFLW, will air from Sunday 5th February 2017.

To run concurrently with the AFLW season in February and March, it will be hosted by Tiffany Cherry, with football reporter Ros Lanigan and a rotating panel including Moana Hope, Katie Brennan, Melissa Hickey and Stephanie Chiocci.

Players from AFL teams will also feature on the show, produced by Crocmedia.

Crocmedia General Manager Jodie Simm said, “We are incredibly excited to be playing a role in the phenomenal growth of women’s football in Australia.

Women’s Footy follows on from our calls of all ten AFL women’s exhibition matches this season for afl.com.au and dedicated content in our Future Stars program on Channel Nine. There’s no doubt the public has an appetite for the skill and athleticism displayed in women’s footy and we look forward to taking the game to the next level with Nine.”

Ian Paterson, Managing Director of Channel Nine Melbourne, said: “”We’re committed to footy, so it’s with great pride we announce the premiere season of Women’s Footy in 2017. Together with our partners, we’ve always set the agenda. This expansion of our great game once again gives us that opportunity. It’s with genuine excitement that we get to play our part and can’t wait to bring this format to television.”

All 28 home and away games of the AFLW will be broadcast live on Foxtel, with select games on Seven.

  1. It’s no wonder people in NSW and Queensland can’t stand 9 when they have more shows dedicated to AFL than NRL when they have the rights to NRL. Maybe this explains also why their female Rugby League journo defected to Fox Sports.

  2. the question is – will this air in Sydney and Brisbane (on either Nine or on Gem)? Or will it not air at all, just like the Sunday AFL Footy Show not airing at all in these cities for some time.
