The United Kingdom finally has a decent contender for Eurovision this year, with singer Lucie Jones voted to represent the nation in the You Decide special held on the weekend.
“I Will Never Give Up on You” is a stirring ballad written by The Treatment, Lawrie Martin and former winner Emmelie de Forest (“Only Teardrops” 2013).
Jones comes with music theatre pedigree, having performed in Rent, Legally Blonde, Les Miserables and Ghost -and it shows in her captivating performance.
Eurovision: You Decide combined scores from professional judges and the viewing public to choose who to send to Kiev, Ukraine in May.
“I’m very excited; I’m still shaking a little bit. I can’t believe that people chose me. How wonderful is that? Representing the UK as a singer, it’s such an honour,” she said.

It wouldn’t matter if we (UK) put up the best singer and the best song ever written we would not win Eurovision, voting is always along political lines and we have very few friends among the European nations.
Best song they’ve had for years. Performance will need to be more dynamic on the actual night and cut out the falsetto breaks in a couple of places.
Shame that this couldn’t have happened last year because, whatever chance this might’ve had, it’s going to be punished for Brexit.
A good vocal won’t be enough I don’t think. The song is instantly forgettable and will get lost in the crowd
